Social media & Cyber-bullying, Bullying/Harassing isn't "cool"!

Social media is a great platform to showcase your creativity & connect to people from different parts of the world.

Say "NO" to Cyber-bullying

Among all other social media sites, I like to use Twitter because you can set up your Twitter account according to your interests. It's a bit hard to gain followers on Twitter, but it doesn't matter to me, because I didn't join any social networking site for followers.

I use social media sites to showcase my work, connect to people, know about their culture, traditions & also what's happening around. While most people of my age use social media to stalk people, fake their life, and some even share their passwords with their temporary boyfriend/girlfriend.

Nowadays, a lot of kids of the age group 12-16, also started using social media sites. These children often get affected by the negative side of social media and get dragged into it unknowingly. The negative side of social media includes cyberbullying, human trafficking (sexting), etc. The rise of some toxic influencers contributed to the negative side of social media to some extent. Manipulated youths idolise these "influencers" who bullies & give harmful threats to people, and calls it "roast", which is cyberbullying in reality.

Cyberbullying is the act of bullying people over digital/electronic media. According to a survey report, about 37% of young people between the ages of 12 and 17 faced cyberbullying. The urge to abuse people on the Internet, who doesn't have a same or similar opinion, is very common nowadays. Some people like to misuse the power of the Internet & the freedom of speech to abuse and bully others. My request, to all the readers of this book, is to be responsible & respectful towards people on the Internet, you never know what people are going through in their daily life.

I would also like to request the influencers (if any of you're reading this), act as an influencer, learn to shoulder your responsibilities, talk to people about Cyberbullying & create awareness.

If being an influencer, was all about keeping the fans happy, then a dancing monkey is also an influencer.

Defaming and abusing others on social media has become a source of income for some people. Creating a fake one-sided story and framing it in one's favour is often used to defame others & spread hatred.

Most young teenagers or school going kids who experience cyberbullying, never inform their parents about it. Cyberbullying mentally frustrates a person & makes him/her upset.

While on social media, we should always remember to maintain our privacy. Posting minute to minute updates on Instagram stories with real-time location is not a good practice, as bad guys can use these data against you.

I started using social media when I was 16 years old. I joined Instagram in 2017-18 after I took part in a Photography Contest held by Indian Railways. It took me almost a year, to realise, there are different kinds of people on each & every social media platform, and there's also a negative side of social media filled with hate, abuses & toxicity. I started researching on Instagram hacks & tricks, and I also tried to keep myself updated about Instagram updates, on which I made several videos, which are out there on my YouTube Channel.

The future of content creation is Social Media. Many content creators have reached their audience through various social media platforms. The art of storytelling, infotainment & positive entertainment adds value to the audience's life and sometimes also changes it for better. It's not easy to grow as a content creator on social media.

However, it's not impossible as well. The content creation market is saturated. The only way to stand out is consistency & uniqueness.
